Amrap ‘Fresh From Queensland’ sampler

Such a wonderful thing to be on this sampler. A big THANK YOU AMRAP for considering my track and including me on the sampler very VERY Happy.

Amrap has announced the 12 winners for the Amrap ‘Fresh From Queensland’ sampler. With over 75 artists submitting tracks for consideration the sampler showcases the best and brightest of the Queensland music scene. The Sampler will be distributed nationally in November to over 300 community stations and to delegates at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s (CBAA) National Conference.

The sampler showcases a range of genres and up and coming Queensland artists including Drawn From Bees, Little Scout, Ball Park Music, Blame Ringo and Hunz.

Select artists from the sampler are performing an exclusive showcase for community radio broadcasters, music directors and QLD media at the Amrap Fresh From Queensland showcase. The showcase is held on Friday November 20, 2009 at The Troubadour in the Fortitude Valley as a part of the CBAA National Conference.

In addition to featuring on the Amrap ‘Fresh From Queensland’ sampler all 12 winners had their featured track added to Amrap’s AirIT. AirIT is community radio’s free online portal of new release Australian music. Broadcasters from around Australia use AirIT to access music via CD and digital download. AirIT was launched in September and predominantly contains Australian music from major and independent record labels, with artists from the Amrap ‘Fresh From Queensland’ sampler being amongst the first unsigned artists accessing AirIT.

Amrap’s ‘Fresh From Queensland’ Sampler is just another way Amrap is supporting great Australian music.

TripleJ Unearthed and The Messenger

Like others have mentioned before, definitely reminiscent of Radiohead. But hunz without a doubt have their own personal sound. The song is great melodic electronica. Definitely one of my favourite new artists!

Funky moody electro pop with a chip-tune twist, Hunz dazzles with sublime sweetness in such a sweep leaving you breathless on the dancefloor and wanting more. And just in case you think this pop is too disposable, check out the emotion in that dark bassline, the cyclonic computerized melodies, and the introspective lyrics. The barrier has been shaken, and Hunz grooves us out with some thoughts that really do move.
